Assurance and Governance the Industry Can Build On
IMAIA exists to unite shipowners, class societies, flag administrations, technology providers and researchers around a shared responsibility: making sure artificial intelligence goes to sea safely, transparently and under proper human oversight.
We publish assurance guidance ahead of regulation, not behind it, and we keep it grounded in operational reality by writing it with the people who will have to live with it — superintendents, DPAs, surveyors and engineers.
Membership is individual. Every member sits in the same working groups regardless of who they work for, because the questions AI raises at sea do not separate cleanly along commercial lines.
